Fishing Reports

FishUSA Staff
Going into the weekend today is a little bumpy with a small craft advisory. For the rest of the week the forecast says 2ft or less. This can change so be aware when planning to fish. Smallmouth fishing is winding down but walleye fishing continues to be good. Anglers are getting walleye any where from in shallow to out deep off the point. Good luck to every one going out this weekend and be safe. TIGHT LINES!

Smallmouth fishing is starting to wind down in the bay. There are still some fish but they are also starting to go back out into the lake. Walleye fishing is starting to heat up though. A lot of anglers are fishing off the point in 52-60FOW. Divers are going to be the easiest way to target these fish. You can also use snap weights and leadcore. Watch the weather through out the week to pick the best day to go out and fish. Goodluck to every one and tight lines.

Both walleye and smallmouth fishing has been decent over the week. Anglers in the bay are finding fish pushed up shallow on beds, fish are still also in the main lake in 12-18FOW around structure. Most anglers fishing for walleye have been going off the point in 42-50FOW. Walleye are still being caught off the beaches at night throwing stick baits also. Good luck to everyone going out this weekend and watch for weather. TIGHT LINES!

Walleye fishing is starting to pick up. Anglers are trolling in the evening into night in shallow water between 6-15FOW. Remember if you are going to do this be safe with navigational lights and if running planer boards some sort of light on them. As for smallmouth, fish have defiantly pushed up more shallow. Not saying you can't find fish in deeper water out in the main lake. Good luck to every one going out over the weekend. TIGHT LINES!

The last few days mother nature has not been kind to anglers on Lake Erie, with winds of 20mph or more. The next couple days are looking better but that can always change in the blink of an eye. Anglers are still getting smallmouth bass in the bay and in the main lake. Key points are drop off's or rock structure in the bay and main lake. As far as walleye fishing goes, it is starting to pick up with anglers getting fish off the beach's at night and trolling at night. Reports of day time trolling in 25FOW is also looking promising. Good luck to every one going out and be safe over the holiday weekend. TIGHT LINES !

The weather service is predicting that tonight the waves should be 1ft or less, this can change. If the weather does what it is suppose to tonight would be a perfect night to cast lures off the beaches for night time walleye. Any of the tributary mouths could produce walleye. Top lures of choice would be Rapala original floaters in F-13 and F-18, Bomber long shallows and Smithwick P10's. As far as Smallmouth, anglers are still having success in the bay and the open lake. Looking for drop offs and rock piles are the key to finding fish. Some fish have pushed up shallow on to beds where you can sight fish them. Good luck to everyone going out this weekend and pay attention to the weather as storms could come in over the weekend. TIGHT LINES!

Over the weekend anglers reported smallmouth was tough. Most anglers had success on finesse jigs and downscaling the size on everything. 2.8 Keitechs on jigs slow rolling or dragging are good options when finesse fishing. Anglers are also seeing walleye in 18-25FOW. Some are trolling while most are taking advantage of being able to drift or jig for them. Good luck to every one going out this week. TIGHT LINES !

Between rain and wind this has been a rough week for anglers on the bay. Some are still braving the conditions or setting up in places that aren't effected by the wind. Swimbaits and traditional bottom contact presentations continue to do extremely well in these colder conditions. No reports yet from walleye anglers on how trolling or casting at night has been. Its just the beginning of the season so it can only go up from here. Continue to check the weather to determine the best day to go out. Good luck to everyone going out this weekend. TIGHT LINES!

Its been a windy start to the month of May. When you can get out large and small mouth bass are defiantly there. Classic baits like drop shots and dragging tubes have been productive. If you go south of Erie almost all streams have now been stocked 1-2 times with trout. No reports on walleye with the opening day this past Saturday. That will pick up when you are able to get on the lake without rough water. Good luck to every one going out this week. TIGHT LINES.
