Fishing Reports

Over the weekend it was a mixed report with anglers having success on the bay for smallmouth. Swimbaits and jerkbaits are still the bait of choice, downsizing is key right now for matching the hatch. Good luck to every one going out this week and watch the weather reports to choose the best day to go out as weather this time of year can switch fast. TIGHT LINES!

The last few days anglers have been struggling with the wind and waves on the lake and bay. Some are finding early success on smallmouth. The key to this is just moving around till you find them. Swimbaits and jerkbaits are regularly producing when you do find fish. As the water gets warmer more smallmouth will show up and move in shallow for spawning. Good luck to every one going out over the weekend. TIGHT LINES!

Over the weekend the wind gave most anglers problems with fishing. If you could get out, some did find success with both panfish and smallmouth. Anglers going after panfish have been using small soft plastics with jigs. For smallmouth swimbaits and jerk baits have been the ticket when you do find them. Good luck to every one going out over the week. TIGHT LINES!

Over the weekend most anglers talked about doing good in the bay on panfish. You did have to work for them but when you found them it was a good bite. Jigs with plastics under a float is how most fished for them. Reports of smallmouth starting to show up also but still extremely slow. This bite can only get better the warmer the water gets. A few steelhead are still in the creeks but suckers are also in the lower sections of the creeks, which is a sign the season is coming to an end. Good luck to every one going out over the week. TIGHT LINES!

Nothing much has change in the past week for fishing. Anglers are still finding panfish in the bay. The key to success is moving to find the fish. Good spots to try first are the head of the bay, the marina and liberty park. Stream fisherman are still finding some steelhead mixed with stockies on the lower sections. That season is coming to an end unfortunately. Spring smallmouth bass are starting to show up but nothing in great numbers yet. It can only get better the warmer the water gets. Good luck to every one going out over the weekend. TIGHT LINES!

Erie has been up and down with water flows in the last week. As of this morning the creeks are fishable with the water being a little off color. With rain in the forecast it just depends on how much we receive and if they stay fishable. Saturday was the trout opener for PA. Elk, parts of crooked and 20 mile were a couple of the streams that got stocked for the opener. Typical trout lures such as spinners and small cranks work well, If you are fly fishing its hard to beat a wooly bugger or some sort of small streamer for these fish. Anglers continue to find panfish in the head of the bay. Most anglers are using floats and some sort of small plastics on jigs for these fish. Good luck to every one going out this week. TIGHT LINES!

Anglers are doing well in the bay with panfish, jigs and soft plastics under a float have been the ticket for them. This time of year can be some of the best fishing for keeper panfish. Anglers are also still catching Steelhead in the stream but suckers are starting to show up so that season is coming to and end. Remember this Saturday coming up is the PA opener for trout. Basic lures like rooster tails and small crank baits can do extremely well. Good luck to every one going out this week. TIGHT LINES!

Over the weekend anglers found success on most of the creeks for steelhead once the water came down to fishable levels. Anglers fishing the bay are also starting to pick up panfish in the shallows with bobbers and jig. With warmer weather in the future fishing can only get better. Good luck to every one going out this week. TIGHT LINES!

The ice on the bay is no longer safe to fish on. The streams have opened back up and anglers are starting to Steelhead fish again. No reports of open water to fish on the bay yet. Good luck to everyone going out. Tight lines!

Slow conditions continue on the bay for ice anglers. Some anglers are finding some decent panfish but you have to weed through the smaller fish when you find them. Typical ice baits have been working such as tungsten jigs, swedish pimples and other jigging baits. Almost all the bay is safe but still proceed with caution as no ice is ever safe ice. Good luck to every one going out this week. TIGHT LINES!
