Conservation Camp Update
In case you missed reading about it in PA Trout:
The Chapter provided scholarships to send Weston
Kightlinger and Stephen Bucklin to the 2006 Rivers Conservation and Fly
Fishing Camp. The Chapter also
provided each student with Fly Tying kits and First Cast fly rods from the L.
L. Bean donation program. Reports
from both students indicated that it was tremendous week.
Stephen reported that after trying most of his
natural imitation patterns, with limited success, that he switched to Erie
County Steelhead tactics and started casting Sucker Spawn patterns with
greatly improved results! …Oh the nerve of him!!
Being the good sportsman that he is, Steven immediately started to
offer the students around him some of his Spawn patterns and before long all
the students were landing fish! (Am
I wrong, or was it Charlie Meck who suggested always carrying a couple of
Spawn patterns for those times when nothing else seems to work?)
Well, it looks like they’re all learning now!

Allegheny River Float Trip Update
In case you missed reading about it in PA Trout:
The second annual NWPATU
Allegheny Float Trip from the outflow of Kinzua Dam to Warren PA was
held Wednesday May 24. We had
about 21 folks turnout for the float trip, with about equal numbers of T.U.
members to T.U. guests in attendance. From
what I understand a few good-sized Rainbows, Browns, and Bronze backs were
hooked along the way and local outdoors sportswriter Mike Bleech prepared a
great lunch!
Thanks to J.T. Davis and other members who helped
to make this outing possible!
Erik’s Presentation
Erik will be focusing
on the tributaries and feeders of a lot of the well known streams in the
Kettle Creek Watershed along with some tributaries of the West Branch
Susquehanna River.
And no names will be given out!
