Steelhead/Salmon/Trout --- September through April

Runs of steelhead into our tributaries usually start with the first fall rains of September and peek in the month of November. Early run, chrome bright fish are the hottest of the year and will leave you humbled by your inability to control them. The months of October and November will bring larger runs of steelhead spreading through out streams and rivers entering Lake Erie. Coho Salmon, along with lake run Brown Trout, are all caught during these months and into early December.

Because I live in Erie, I am constantly putting clients into the freshest running steelhead coming into our tributary systems, and offer you your best shot at putting a trophy class fish over 30 inches in the net. I guide on all of the Lake Erie tributaries in the tri-state area. This ability to adjust to daily water conditions ensures a successful trip for out of town visitors.

While the fly fisher in winter may seek stark solitude, they will also find excellent angling during mild weather. Mid winter thaws can find yourself on one of our heralded steelhead streams, with a new run of fresh chromers and not a single person in sight.

March and April herald the best of what the spring season has to offer. A chrome bright steelhead, greyhounding across the water while ripping line off your reel is a great way to usher in a New Year of angling adventures.
