Location: Elk (below the Rt. 20 bridge
Date Fished: Oct. 31
Type of Report: Stream
Report: Randy Gifford and I fish from the Girard park area up to Rt. 20. Lots of fish, water REAL low and clear. Not much went on till afternoon then the fish moved up in the riffle and fishing was good in the riffles till dark.

Hooked well over a dozen, landed only a few of them. Drifted sucker spawn flies into their mouths! They seemed to like size 10's. The little ones didn't interest them.

Anyway, Randy hooked and landed a 41-inch King Salmon in that area just below the Girard park. Yea, that's why I'm posting this a couple days latter - it has obviously moved on to somewhere else by now. Yup, we let it go.

Anyway, a couple of Ohio Steelheaders went to Conneaut Creek Sunday and fished the PA/OH border area and they saw and hooked up with King Salmon too.

This is truly a strange year for fish.

Oh yea, we caught and release all but two fish. Catch and relase all you don't need for the occasional dinner. Only thing better than Steelhead is beer-battered Perch!

Tight lines.

Report: Sorry everyone but I have a very big complaint. There are three older gentlemen who like to watch and wait till someone catches a fish and while you are trying to release that fish they decide to move in and take over your spot. They are 2 older gentlemen in their late 60's approx. and the son of one of the older gentlemen who is probably 40ish. Hey guys we all come out here to have a good time and catch fish but there is no need to move in on someone elses hole. I have respect for my elders but am getting fed up with these 3 gentlemen continually doing this. So if you see these guys comin with there fly rods protect your hole cause they'll move right in and they have no problem kicking you out. Alaska wasn't even this bad!!!

Report: Hey I've been noticing that there haven't been too many reports about 20 mile creek in North East. I have been just slammin 'em up there and you wouldn't believe what I've been using to catch them with! Been catching fish between 18 and 30 inches since Oct. 5th. You need to get as close to the lake as possible for the real aggresive fish. Good luck and good fishin'. Oh and hey fellas I'm getting real tired of everyone fighting and being rude on here. Let's try to show that we are a little more civilized ok?

Report: Lost one hog Sunday on a pink sucker spawn. Streams are too clear and too low. Saw more flies on the fishes' backs then in Poor Richard's. Whats the big deal if some fish die on the streams. Do you realize how many thousands are put into the lake each year and how many thousands will run this year. Kudos to the guys who slit open the bellys and use the eggs! At least bury them when you're done or throw in the weeds. Reduce, reuse, recycle I always say. I see we have another Shawn on board, at least he spells his name right! To the guy who said he's gonna get violent and then says peace out, make some sense??!! To the guy who said fly-fisherman should be using flies and not bait, what are you talking about??

Report: To Mr.Mupere
I'm sorry to imform you that the the fish you saw in Elk weren't Atlantics. No state that borders lake Erie stocks Atlantics nor do I know of any fish farms that raise Atlantics on lake Erie. Also I don't believe they migrated from lake Ontario.
To Mike D. from Pittsburgh
I'm glad that you did so well fishing at Walnut. Although you realy don't need to keep everything that you catch weather you be a novice or expert fisherman. If everybody keeps every fish they kept there would be no fishery. If you want to brag about all the nice fish you caught take a picture. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with keeping "A" fish once in a while. Though I highly doubt that your so desperate for fish that you need to keep 6 fish.

Report: It was an interesting weekend to say the least. We caught a few, and lost some too. They were hitting a variety of baits however skein seemed to work the best of all. Thanks too all that were kind and considerate and as for the others I think it is a lost cause. And as for the kid whom my cousin and I gave bait too, don't worry about it. It has been done for him and I many times, we were just glad to help you catch some fish. Good luck to all and hope to see you soon.

Location: Walnut Creek, Manchester Hole
Date Fished: 10/26-27/99
Type of Report: Stream
Report: Well, Finally. After 4 long years of fishing..having no idea what I was doing. I finally figured something out. The old thing of going fishing during the week since everyone is at work....it doesn't work. Walnut was SO crowded, I can hardly imagine what the weekend crowds look like. Anyways started fishing about 11am on Tues. I was very suprised to see how many fish were in the holes all the way up to the Manchester Hole. With just as many anglers. I did what everyone else was doing with some single eggs, skein and sucker spawns. After about 2 hours, I changed to a black mini-foo tipped off with 3 maggots, 20 min later I had a 12lb female and 2 10lb males. Done for the day. I kept myself busy, with lunch and dinner, checked out the beautiful scenery Erie has to offer and went to sleep. I was in the Manchester hole once again Wed morning around 6am, and yes 12 guys in there already, so I went to my spot all the way at the end. By 8am I was on my way back to Pittsburgh with yet another limit for the day. Got 2 females about 8lb each and a beautiful Brownie of about 5lb which was the best eating fish I've had in a long time. I am by no means a pro at steelhead fishing, but what I did learn was you have to get into the streams. For years I would go fishing in Nov. after the docks were taken out of the marina and sit there with the elder community. Then take a drive down to the pigpen at trout run. Always bringing unsuccessful outcomes. I was a bit upset with myself driving up because I forgot to bring my lawn chair....well I didnt need it this week, and I will probably never take another again. I was a bit displeased however..there is still a lot of trash being thrown on the stream banks. Please folks, now I have an idea on what I am doing, please clean up after yourselves, so we can all enjoy fishing like this year after year. Tight Lines everyone, and Take Care. Mike Dugan

Location: Elk Creek
Date Fished: 10-27-99
Type of Report: Stream
Report: After viewing the TON'S of fish at new Walnut holes, we arrived at Elk Creek around 8:20am. There were only 4 cars were at the first tubes, so we took a walk down only to find very slow moving water with only a few fish. Next, we tried the Railroad trestle area but it was too packed. Finally, we decided to drive to the access of Elk were there were many people with many fish caught. We headed upstream amazed to find only a few people at the waterfall hole. There were a dozen or so fish in the stretch that seemed spooked at everything that we tried. There were four of us at the stretch using a variety of baits, spinners and spoons with no luck. Finally, I put on a very unique small White curly tail plastic jig. This plastic had a curly tail and also two fins on the body giving it a very erratic effect. My first cast produced a tremendous strike that jerked the rod back.
That followed by two fish on the next three casts and then a third large female a few casts later. I gave these jigs to my buddy and the two other fisherman that were fishing this hole. They received many HARD strikes but did not hook any fish while I was there (20 min). I look forward to coming back up with this jig and fishing other areas - you never know
what will work unless you try it.... by the way, the jig was a bass lure...go figure!!

Report: On saturday the 23,went on elk creek below the sewage plant at girard.Lots of fish in the stream. Most in years. The water was starting to turn cloudy about 1pm.Tried maggots and eggs and flies without success. Went to a flourescent red flatfish in x4 size.My buddy has used them for years and done real well.I always thought he was foul hooking them.Boy did I have to eat CROW.In a matter of 30 minutes had 2 break off, lost 3,and missed numerous fish because I was striking too soon.I had on the wrong test line. They were hitting like bass and actually striking the lure as it was on the surface. The fish were charging the lure. This might be an alternative if you find the fish are not hitting conventional bait or flies.Use a floating model with no weight and reel it in real slow.

Report: JIG JIG JIG 1/32 oz. yellow and white tipped with maggots. 34 in Brown and myriad steelies. Incredible fellas. This was my first time for steelhead. These fish are real competitors...it is too bad they don't have any water to fight in...they'd probably have broken my ugly stick instead of jumping up out of the water onto the bank on the other side of the stream. These were the pleasant things. The unpleasant things are the snaggers...I caught 4 fish with big trebel hooks (already)lodged in their backs and tails...that is ridiculous! They'll put an eye out some day...we can only hope it is there own! The other unpleasantry was when I went to Poor Richard's at 4:00 a.m. when he was to be open and he wasn't. So since his driveway was gated and labeled no parking I moved across the street where I thought was a elementary school and parked in the lot to wait Rich out. 10 minutes later the state Police arrived with a $168 fine for trespassing with a motor vehicle. What a joke. You finally have something to give the small business some money and these guys ruin it. nuff said.

Report: Fished 20 mile and 16 mile and did very well. Egg patterns (glo bugs, sucker spawn, blood dots) worked again. Lots of fish.
I saw guys who couldn't fight fish to save their lives. It shouldn't take 15 minutes to play a 6 lb. fish (even a 10 pounder for that matter). I don't care how hot it is. Put some pressure on them and be more aggressive. If you know what your doing, you can tell when to let the fish go and when to put pressure on it. Try changing the directions from where you put pressure on them. It confuses them and tires them out much faster. It's better for the survival of the fish and less frustration on others who would eventually like to get a drift. Enough preaching.
FYI Ontario tribs are packed with salmon and a fair number of trout. Egg patterns worked for the browns (scrambled eggs in particular). Lots of fisherman and lifters.

Report: Fished 20 mile right around the bridge. Caught a lot of fish. Hitting on #14 sucker spawn, any color. I must have lost 20 and landed 10. My cousin landed a real nice brown. Very ideal conditions after 10am. The water was very fast and dirty early but then cleared and fell as the day went on. Many fish running. Not sure how the water will be the next couple of days as 20 mile drains fast just like Walnut. I would recommend Elk today and tomorrow. There should be plenty of fish there. Hope you catch some and please don't litter. :)

Report: Fished Elk upstream from Route 5 about 3 miles. Water was fast and brown (it looked like chocolate milk). I didn't have any success after about 2 hours so I decided to check out Walnut. Area around the marina to Manchester was a zoo so I decided to go upstream from the railroad tracks. The water was not as swift, nor as off color, but still did not have any success. Fished skein, sucker spawn, jigs and maggots. Does anyone have any advice for fishing just after the rain (other than stay home and wait for it to clear a little)? The flow was great.

It was my first in about twelve years, and my first hog on a fly rod! Caught it on an egg sack pattern. The Manchester was packed, but the shutes were pretty open! People were very courtious and no trash!! Conditions should be even better during week! Nothing beats fly-fishing for hogs! I may never pick up my open-face/noodle rod again!

Report: Sorry so late in posting this report; As for the 15th, a friend and I fished the top part of the Manchester hole and caught 50 fish between the two of us. It was a most enjoyable experience! We fished sucker spawn size 18 ( colors were cream and white with our most productive one being one we tied up the night before, it had a little pizazz to it!), fresh skein, singles, and blood dots. The fishing was even made more enjoyable by the experienced and cortious fisherman that fished in and around us all morning. We then packed up( and I mean trash also guys...hint!) and went out to 20 mile where we caught 13 more fish all on Trout magnets( color was silver metal flake). What a day!!!!! However, Saturday the 16th was a different story. My dad and wife came up late Friday night, so I took them back to the same spot at the Manchester, my friend declining to go because he said it would be a zoo. He was not far off. My Dad and I caught 6 to 7 fish when a flyfisherman with no ettiquete at all started to fish DOWN STREAM completly cutting off about 5 fisherman's difts, including mine!! After crossing him repeatedly, I bowed out of the foray, because I was losing my temper!!!! I do not understand this mentality! I believe in having fun and enjoy everyone catching fish. I will gladly help out a fellow angler anytime I can on the stream, but why do some feel they can do what ever they want, not worrying about who suffers the consequences. Needless to say we left and went to the Elk, where we caught fish all afternoon on white trout worms.. And the quality of cortious fisherman were in abundance!!!!! Remeber this people, We all come to this place to escape the everyday pressures of our lives, lets ALL try to make these occasions happy ones for ourselves and OTHERS!!!

Sincerely,
Eggnormous

Report: Went to Elk Valley and landed one. Also landed three at Manchester. All were on sucker spawn. Welcome back Chad Dingleberry and/or WG! I thought you vowed never to post again at this site. You need to get some new material! Lifting is old hat! Littering is the new rage! Stop people littering first, then dwell on to the so called lifters! I saw the owner of the manchester property picking up trash that some slobs left on the wall! Come on people pick up your crap! Hope to see you on Saturday Chad, you'll be the one with the binoculars up in the trees spying on us right??

Date Fished: 10/20 - 10/21

Report: Fished the lower end of Elk all day on 10/20 and until noon on 10/21. Saw lots of interesting things.

Fished mini-foos and maggots at first light. Hooked and landed a lot of fish on both days. As it got later, went over to skein. When the fish turned off to skein, fished single eggs. All methods were successful. Even fished power bait in the morning before the sun came up. Landed a few fish.

Conditions early in the morning were crowded. The number of lanterns that were on made it look like daybreak at 5:00AM. There's no need to have that much light around the creek. If you bring a lantern down to the creek, you really should turn it off once you get to your spot. Your eyes will adjust to low light conditions if you let them. I had to stare into minatures suns for a few hours before the sun came up.

There were several guys on the west side of the creek that must have been afraid to bend their rods when fighting fish. They allowed their fish to run all over the place -- sometimes as far as 80 yards upstream without chasing or putting any pressure on the fish. In the crowded conditions that existed at Elk, these guys made it difficult to do ANYTHING until they landed their fish. One old guy had the nerve to lecture people who were fishing way upstream and across from where he was fishing. I was amazed at his ignorance. Also saw one guy fight an 8 lb. steelie for about 40 minutes. Same thing, no pressure or control on the fish and this guy was back-reeling on the fish, too. Again, I was dumbfounded by the lack of thought for others who wanted to fish but couldn't because these guys don't put any pressure on the fish.

Took a break on Wed. afternoon to go down and check out Walnut. What a circus that was. I stood on the bridge and put my glasses on a few guys fishing the Manchester hole. The hole held lots of fish and the water was gin clear. Guys had surrounded the fish and were obviously trying to lift these fish. Saw at least 10 fish foul hooked in the 10 minutes I spent watching these guys. The same thing could be said about the guys downstream in the new holes. The lifters were out in force.

Although the guys that we fished with at Elk (the guys on the east side, anyway) were really nice and helpful, I'm not surprised that there continues to be altercations. The streams are crowded and a lot of people don't want to (gasp!) walk to get to a spot. Believe it not, you don't have to fish within spitting distance of your car.

Report: Plans are to remove some of the steelhead from Trout Run nursery waters on Friday morning and transport them to the Folly's End area of Elk Creek. Low water is taking its toll on the trout and this is a chance spread the fish & anglers out some. If you are available to help they plan to be at Folly's End between 10 & 12 noon Friday morning (10/22)... If they have to take more out ... they will probably be taken to the I-79 hole. Report: Drove 2 1/2 hours to fish Trout run only to find that the weather report was wrong. Conditions were too rough to do anything. The run was full from the footbridge to the lake of steelies. So as not to have wasted the trip, I went to Elk. WHAT A DAY! Steelies were hitting all day long, mind you they tended to take some long breaks. It seemed that minnows were working best. They hit on crawlers, whits trout worms, maggots, white minifoos tipped with maggots, single eggs and so-on. Using 4lb test sure makes it a challenge landing such a energetic fish. I managed to hook at least 30 fish (minnows and single eggs) but was fortunate to land only six.
Once again I was EXTREMELY impressed with the great bunch of guys fishing ELK. We all had a great time and go along well. This is what it is all about! GOOD FISHING!!!

Flipcast and family - I had a good time. By the way Flipcast, you forgot to pay me. As for the fishing, I foul hooked a couple, 2 were landed and released and 3 got free and 1 busted line. I did catch (hook in the mouth) 6. 1 on white trout worm, 1 on nightcrawler, 1 on brown and white minifoo plain and 3 on single yellow egg. I would also like to thank all those guys who replied to me about how to fish the egg. Thanks, it worked great; I am sold. Tight lines to all.

Report: Never sent report in before, so here goes:
If you were at Walnut Wall Columbus Day morning you know what I mean. From dawn till about 11Am-if there was bait on your hook you probably had strikes and may landed some. Ended up with 2(one real nice 9 1/2 pounder). Fiqure I lost 7-8 (using #14 hook with green powerbait) After 11AM it slowed down and really got crowded-before that it was close quarters, but everyone was very considerate. After 11 people got edgy etc. so left.
Sunday morning they were hitting little of everything after it rained. Nice steady hitting so again lots of folks hooked up. I ended up with a nice steelhead and a nice brown. One on eggs and one on nightcrawler. Most folks appeared friendly and considerate of each other. Green powerbait stil seems to be best all around on the wall this year though. GOOD LUCK.

Hot fly was a rose sucker spawn in size 14 early and 18 later in the day as stream started to drop and clear. It was the 3rd time i fished the tribs this year and sucker spawn have by far been the most consistent.
What is the deal with Walnut? I only saw 5 fish above route 5. I imagine they are having a difficult time getting past the chutes with all the fishing pressure but would think they could blow by the fishermen at night. Good luck.

Report: Fished Saturday & Sunday on Elk, below the 90 hole. Creek was low, but had the nice green color. Must have been 75-100 fish in the hole. Single eggs and sucker spawn worked best, with a very small float. Small float was needed because the creek was low. Left Sunday ~4pm, was raining, fish were getting active again. Saturday had 16 hookups, landed 9. Sunday had ~25 hookups, landed 13. Almost all the fish were big, there were some real logs in the stream! Caught a 10# chinook, seemed to be a lot of salmon in, which was kinda unusual. Fish were very active all day, could be seem swimming upstream through the riffles. If I had more vacation, I know where I'd be this week!

Report: WHAT A 2 DAY TRIP. FINALLY GOT RAIN AND THE STREAMS WERE PERFECT ON FRI. AND SAT. STARTED UPSTREAM AT DAYBREAK WITH MY DAD AND BUDDY, STARTED HOOKING FISH RIGHT AWAY; THE FISH WERE EVERYWERE. BY DUSK WE PROBABLY HOOKED 40 FISH BETWEEN THE THREE OF US INCLUDING AN 11LB. 5OZ. FEMALE THAT PUT ME IN THE LEAD IN THE PA. STEELHEADERS TOURNEY. SATURDAY WAS NO DIFFERENT THE CREEK SURPRISINGLY HELD IT'S COLOR AND FLOW; THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS THE NUMBER OF GUYS. I MUST COMMENT THAT EVERYONE AROUND US WAS VERY POLITE AND ON FRI. WE EVEN HAD A BATTLE BETWEEN SIDES OF THE CREEK AS TO WHO COULD LAND THE MOST FISH. OF COURSE OUR SIDE BLEW AWAY THE COMPETITION. ALOT OF FUN, I JUST WISH EVERYONE COULD ACT THE SAME. SATURDAYS FISHING WAS A MIRROR IMAGE OF FRI., ANOTHER 40 TO 50 FISH DAY EXCEPT MY DAD TOOK THE LEAD IN THE STEALHEADERS TOURNEY WITH AN 11LB.7OZ. BUCK THAT WENT 30 AND A HALF INCHES., HIS LARGEST STEELY EVER, HE WAS THRILLED. OVERALL THE FISHING COULD'NT HAVE BEEN ANY BETTER. ONE FINAL COMMENT, WE LANDED PROBABLY 60 FISH IN TWO DAYS BETWEEN THE 3 OF US AND ONLY KILLED 2 FISH AND THATS BECAUSE THEY WERE ENTERED IN THE TOURNEY. I FELT BAD KILLING 2 FISH. LEARN TO PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE TO PRESERVE THE GREAT FISHERY WE LOVE SO MUCH. THE STEELIES AREN'T REALLY THAT TASTY ANYWAY AND WILL MORE THAN LIKELY END UP IN THE TRASH CAN. Report: The Rain on Wednesday night brought the Steelhead on Thursday Morning. Large numbers holding near the mouths and lower extremities.
They were taking Sucker Spawn tied in large patterns and seemed to be favoring the lighter colors. The smaller creeks (12 mile) had dark fast water. Friday morning was bliss. The water had dropped/cleared while still maintaining enough volume to hold the fish in the drops. The action was amazing with the fishing pressure so light. Any decent drop was giving up fish. I hooked six Steelhead on four different colors of Sucker Spawn. There are not many days like this.

Report: Went to train tressel behind Elk Valley. Landed a small jack and lost one on singles. The fish turned off around 9 am, so much for rain that was predicted. For Wayne, just having some fun, while expressing distaste for those who snag. The message was turn them in, because tolerance breeds repetition. Some of the trash on the streams is too big for a hefty two-ply. By the way I do have a Wrangler, so what?!?! You have some secret steelhead location where steelies are plentiful, the water's high, but you need an ORV to get to?? Come on Wayne, wake up!

I had a hole with fish in it to myself for about a hour. Met a bait shop owner who give good strem info regardless if you buy something or not. You can keep the shoulder to shoulder on the wall and in the pen!!!!! My late fishing partner once said " If you fish to catch fish, your fishing for the wrong reason. Catching fish is a added perk" There is a lot of truth to that saying. Good luck tight lines stay safe and enjoy the day.

Report: Went to the Manchester hole after work and only landed one, but did get to see an Inbred Moment. Jim Bob, Jethro,Banjo Boy, and their sister came up with some nice muskie spinners, snagged one fish and then proceeded to hit it with a rock and say "goo goo its not goin anywheres". I gave a FBC officer their description, but they skedadled before he could charge them $50 for the fish. Secondly to all the mupears expecting a weather report, why don't you just watch Joe Denardo or Bob Kudzma and take your chances! Like we're going to tell you it rained and that the fishing is great!

Last time I checked the limit for Steelhead was 3. These are the 1999 Regulations:

LAKE ERIE TRIBUTARY STREAMS

Species:
Trout and Salmon

Season:
Jan. 1 to midnight Apr. 15 and Sept 7 to Dec. 31

Size:
15 inches 3 (combined species), only two (2) of which can be lake trout.

FYI - Lake Trout are their own species. Lake Trout are not trout from the lake. In case you didn't get it J-Man, the steelhead man post was someone's attempt at a joke.

I got the big one on white minifoo and maggot up from the launch area. The other two were down around the mud hole; caught with black and silver roostertail. I met and chatted with a few nice guys. Thanks for all the info. and remember to keep the streams litter free. Good luck to all and keep those lines tight. P.S. Flipcast, if you need a guide, drop me a line. Ha, Ha.

Getting awfully frustrated here especially when I asked a guy across from me at Elk on Sunday what he was using and he said "bait". Is this stuff top secret or what? Stopped at a local sport store and one guy wanted to sell me $100 worth of lures. He said "you never know what their hitting on". 'bout ready to give it up and fish off the pier for gobies. Maybe I'll try one more time in a few weeks. If you see someone launch a rod into orbit, don't laugh.

However if you are in the right place at the right time, you can do well. On the 3rd, I only caught one Steelhead but it was a larg male and my first on a fly rod. i saw probably 10 fish caught. Today I caught 3. I also saw several fish running through the shallows. With rain expected this weekend the fishing can only get better. Good luck.

Report: A good post:

I would like to thank the wise old fisherman at Elk who after catching his limit gave me some great advice on fishing mini foo's. His knowledge of the wind shift to catch ratio was right on the money. What he said would happen did almost exactly when he said it would. I did get one very long 7 pounder.
Went to Trout in the afternoon and caught and RELEASED four all about 17 inches. Kept a 12 lb. male. What a fish!!! Almost stripped all my line. The circus started when the fish started running in. People were fishing behind people. The waves breaking were full of fish. It was truly chaos. All in all it was one heck of a day. My girlfreind FINALLY got one. Small but a steely none the less. Take Care all, and be nice to one another. Bob..

Perhaps the people who constantly add negative comments to this site should consider that fishermen and women from all over the US are reading them. While you think these comments are funny, they simply make people from Erie and the region sound like hill-billy idiots. Please refrain from the kids stuff or find another site to frequent. Let's all work to keep the site informative, collaborative and, at all costs, ethical. Remember, we all share a common bond. Peace.

Report: Fished Elk from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday. I went from the access point up stream about 1/2 mile. Water was brown so I could not spot fish; but, none caught nor landed. I also did not see any landed. Fished Walnut from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the far wall. None landed at far wall; but, they did land "a few" on the near wall. Too many people there with their chairs and coolers to even think about joining in the steelheading.

Fished Saturday from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 at the lake. Lake started rough but it eventually settled down for a great day of steelheading. Caught 4, landed 2. Both released. Saw others catch fish too. Single eggs worked for me. Also had one on Cleo. They're not running like mad yet; but, there are some fish out there. Good luck to all. Tight lines. Keep only what you plan to eat!

Report: Fished Walnut near the Lake. Fishing was good. Lots of fish are in the creek.

Since the gentleman before me brought up courtesy when landing fish I'd like to say a word about courtesy when fighting a fish.

Do what you need to land your fish. If it means bringing the fish down out of the faster water into a slower pool then by all means do it. Most fishermen will happily yield to let you land your fish. Just Do what is needed to get your fish in. If you can, bring your fish to a section of the pool that's not being fished. This is always appreciated.

Fish Fighting don'ts. Don't stand in one place and let the fish drag your line 40yds down stream. This is not only not a very effective way to fight a fish it also keeps everyone else from fishing. Walk up and down the stream with your fish. You’ll find you land more fish this way.

A comment concerning the gentleman who thought a guy bringing his fish out of the fast water to land it in a slower pull, WTF! What was the guy supposed to do? Stand there and let the fish run downstream into the pool anyway? Snap the fish off because you own the pool down below the rapids? Sorry that it spooked your fish but that's just how it is. When you go get your own trout stream, you can fish the slow pools all by yourself and no one will be there to annoy you with things like fighting a Steelhead.

Report: anyone seen this months issue of american angler? as if the crowds weren't bad enough, somebody had to make a living by going and writing about how great the steelhead fishing is in the erie tribs. it's a good article...heck it puts canadaway creeek on the map...just remember, fishing is fun, a pleasant diversion, a relaxing alternative to being at WORK!
be nice, play fair, respect others...there're plenty 'o fish for all, lighten up, peace, see y'all soon!!

Location: Just for Mike.
Date Fished: N/A
Type of Report: Stream
Report: Mike,
It is NOT illeagal to fish in the mouth where it empties out into the lake, ESCEPT between 10:00pm until 5:00am. SO before you put your foot in your mouth again, check the regs correctly
