Location:
Date Fished: Sunday, June 27th
Type of Report: Lake
Report: Launched out of Lampe Marina at 6:30 a.m. Covered a triangular area from the eastern tip of Presque Isle north to 60+ ft and east to Shades Beach into 20 ft. Marked alot of fish off the isle and at Shades. Sparse suspended marks in between. Caught many sheephead up to 22", a few rockbass, one 11" perch, several white perch, one 16" smallmouth and NO gobies or walleyes. The fish must be full of mayflies. There were empty larval cases all over the lake. Everyone I talked to had about the same success as I did. Should have gone back to Walnut.

A buddy and I launched out of Walnut Creek on the 20th. Boated 6 walleye, one 7+, four 4+ and one 2 pounder, in 35'-40' 2-1/2 to 4 miles straight out.

If anyone finds where the school has moved, post it for others to fish it.

Location: Caldwell Creek FFO
Date Fished: 6-26
Type of Report: Stream
Report: Fished the delayed harvest ffo section of Caldwell Creek from 8am to noon. Covered about a mile of water up and back. Only tried the deep holes and kept moving on. Caught 6 brookies only about 8" if that, and lost one but didn't feel very big anyway. All caught on something different, a Hare's ear, yellow stone, griffith gnat, and something I tied from my dog's fur. All-in-all it was a good day......had the day off from work!!!

Location: Public Dock
Date Fished: 6-26-99
Type of Report: Bay
Report: Not a very good day for bass fishing. Only caught one 10in smallmouth bass at the end of the dock. Caught him on a minnow bait, perch color. He also hooked me to when I went to get hold of him. Likely the hook only went into my skin so I was able to get the hook out easily, thinks to the guy who held the bass so he stop fighting long enough for me to unhook my self. First time I caught a bass on a triple hook.
Also got a big crappie on a 4 in weight less power worm. Hope to get out panfishing next weekend. Until then, good fishing.

Type of Report: Lake
Report: This report is bound to stir controversy but If someone goes out onto the lake with the downriggers and planer boards and reports that they caught this many Walleye and that many Lake trout using graphs and fish finders should we actually call this fishing or harvesting? Do all these items make us better fishermen or lazier ones. It would thrill me to hear a report from someone who just went out on the lake with a boat, decent tackle and patience enough to actually earn a fish... Think about it.........

Location: West Pier Marina Lake
Date Fished: today
Type of Report: Bay
Report: Boat traffic was slow so it was a good day to cast into the channel with spinnerbaits and spinners. Got some decent bass and a nice Northern fought me all the way to the edge but jumped off when I picked him up over the wall. Another guy down from me caught a 28 inch Northern on a gold spoon. The bobber fisherpeople were getting the red eyes today. They hadn't been hitting good lately.Gobies haven't seemed to make it here yet.....

Not much talk of walleyes yet. Heard stories of some catching 4 or 5 in a day, but not many more.

Type of Report: Lake
Report: A friend and I fished Friday afternoon at the W's and boy did we ever get into the bass. We caught so many fish it was a great half day of fishing. No bass over 20 but boy the fish we caught. We also fished the first day and caught about 50 bass and a bunch of Rock bass. Caught all the bass on shiners. We had crabs and not one fish on them. I couldn't believe we couldn't catch a fish on crabs. We went down lake the bait shop on the lake and went out to 50 and 60 foot of water for Walleyes but no luck.So we went back to the W's and got back into the bass again in about 24 to 30 foot of water. What a great day of bass fishing. No where else can you catch bass like that. What a great fishery you have there keep up the good work. Keep the lines tight gang and thanks agian for a great time on Lake Eire.

Location: Foot of Cascade St. and Mouth of Cascade Creek and Public Dock
Date Fished: 6-8:9-99
Type of Report: Bay
Report: 6-8-99

Went panfishing at public dock. Caught about 35 fish, mostly crappie. Caught most of the fish on a small jig with a small clear, purple speck, curly tail grub. Had an est. 7lb smallmouth on, had him on a plastic shad, perch color. I fought him for 15 minutes on an ultra light rod and 4lb test line. MAN WAS THAT FUN!!!!!! Sadly, though, because of the
*&%^ 4 1/2 foot wall on the west side, I was unable to get him in the net so I had to break my line.

6-9-99

Went bass fishing at foot of cascade st. Saw a lot of smallmouth bass but they were too busy defending their nest to bother with eating. Also saw 2 family of ducks.

Then I went to mouth of cascade st. Had a big hit by a long nosed gar (also known as gar pike) on a 7 in floating rap. Believe me, gar are NOT EASY TO CATCH. All I hear is get lure in front of them and they bite, YEAH RIGHT!!!
Saw some snapping turtles, big bird eating fish, and some big gulls. Good Fishing.

Location: Marina docks and West Peir
Date Fished: Mon. June 7th
Type of Report: Bay
Report: Got out of work at 5pm and headed back down to the Marina to see if any Smallies were hanging around the shallows again. No luck period. Water might be getting to warm in the day in Marina Lake and strikes were down by all fish. Tried a 2 inch powerbait grub on a small jig and caught some bluegill, a couple of them over 8 inches.
What is a Goby? I haven't caught one yet. They must be a good food chain source because the fish seem to catch them better than us.
Good luck....Ron

Location: Marina Pier
Date Fished: June 5&6
Type of Report: Bay
Report: I've been fishing the West Pier at Marina Lake from the shore for the past couple of days and have been quite pleased. The first day was erratic but landed quite a few Red-eyes(Rock Bass),Small perch, bluegills and a 16 inch Smallie. Today I returned and nailed a 17 inch Smallmouth in the first 5 minutes. At one point a school of perch moved through and kept my lines jumping. Red-eyes and bluegills killed the time in between. All these fish were caught on shiners. Once they started there was no need to try anything else. The bass will be moving out soon so this is a last chance to torment some of these fighters. Catch and release......Ron

Date Fished: June 5&6 1999
Type of Report: Lake
Report: Went bass fishing this weekend and did good, not real good but good. We caught some of the bass on shiners, caught some on worms. The fishing right now is off for this same time last year. We caught about 50 bass in the two days and also caught a bunch of nice size rock bass. I did notice that the water temperature is just at 61 degrees, that may be the reason the bass fishing is still alittle slow. But had a great time. I would also like to thank the gang at the bait shop for all their help. What a great bunch of people that party there Thanks agin gang. Good luck guys. Keepo the lines tight
