We spent3 plus hours throwing everything in the box at them. Not 1 strike. Did not see 1 hook-up. A first! Moved to Legion in p.m.It was better there. One buddy got 4. I hooked 2, lost them both.Nymphs and streamers.Conditions were good. Not overly crowded.A few leaves. Just made the wrong choice in the a.m.

Saw plenty of fish from Sterratania down to Rt5, but most had a serious case of lockjaw. Did manage one fair before 8am at Sterretania and a good run of 5-6 fair landed between the Conrail Tubes and Rt 5 from 4-6pm. Not sure if it was sun, a little color from the brief showers, or it just took me 8 hours to get dialed in. Orange Estaz eggs, size 10 on 4X tippet was the ticket for all of the fair landed fish except one (minnow pattern on 3X - lead fly). Elk Creek Sports said very few fish came in today and I only saw one other taken fair all day. Lots of fishing pressure. My best luck was in medium fast 1-2 ft deep water - plenty of weight (2BB) about 12" in front of the lead fly. Plenty of wind and leaves in the stream as well, but still a good day for me.

Fish hitting usual offerings, jigs, eggs, etc. Found more fish walking and even in low water they were willing to chase and hit Flatfish lures as they have been. Lures swung, retrieved, and held in current even in whitewash. This produced some nice fish and aggressive strikes. One lure has had so many fish this season already that the hook and eyelet holding the hook was ripped out. Rain is badly needed again. Date Fished: 11-4-09 Location: lower walnut Water Conditions: some flow but still gin clear Posted By:  "chromehunter12"      11/4/2009 5:14:46 PM   Report ID: 24699 Report: hit lower nut again today, fishing was good for conditions. small golden stones and light florocarbon leader, like 4lb test. landed 9 fish including 2 32 inchers and 1 31 1/2 all on number 14 golden stones. tried live shiners and all they did was spook fish. rain comes more fish will come till then go light and small. a lot of people r snagging fish but it is on accident cause fish are stacked up in spots i filled a fly box today from fish. got lots of buggers and nymphs from them and even a spinner from the tail of one.

Spent quality time with quality friends. Caught several 8-10 pounds on sucker spawn, both cream and crystal meth. I lost my very nice net which I purchased in UK. Date Fished: 11-3-09 Location: mid elk and walnut Water Conditions: clear and slow Posted By:  "chromehunter12"      11/3/2009 3:31:22 PM   Report ID: 24696 Report: found pods of fish in many differnt locations. fish are there but really only in holes for most part. did catch about 15 and lost another 20-25 all on 4lb test leader and very small nymphs size 14 or 16 go find them they r there but you need to do a lot of walking and get away from the crowds and many more fish waiting to come in. lots of really nice fish 7-9 lbs and landed 1 32 1/2 inches and guessing about 12 or 13 lbs all fish returned to fight another day.

The section we fished was a nice get away from the pressure Id like to hook up with you again good company is just as good as the fishing sometimes. As for the report Hit many fish mostly in runs and deep cuts with some current or something to hide a fish other than just depth, Im sure its clearing up a good bit now so a push of water will produce another push of fish and unlock the jaws again. Posted By:  "skimann20"      11/2/2009 9:45:09 PM   Report ID: 24693 Report: Got to Elk on Wed. the 28th and there was no way to fish anything on that stream. But we knew good things where to come the following days. Thursday, 29th, was allot better. Some monsters were being pulled from upper Elk. We pulled in 4 in the 12+lb range. if you weren't fishing the fast water you were wasting your time. The pigs were sitting in there. In some cases I was putting 4-5 AA splits on to get the fly down. Friday was a gift from above, for sure! I was able to pull 10 just from one hole/section. Then I moved up stream to a fast moving section and hooked into 16. The fish were on the move! Constantly cycling through. You could see them spawning, very cool to watch! I lost count on Friday. 30+ day. I used multiple sizes 18-12, multiple patterns, you couldn't go wrong, they were just going crazy! If you were flyfishing you were having a killer day! Saturday... wasn't meant to be. Got up to be blessed again but it wasn't meant to be; it was worse than Wednesday when I got there. Went to the Dinor and got the special and headed home. Till next time! Tight Lines All!

Befor we new it the creek was blown out and unfishable so we mooved to a smaller trib off rt 5. Creek was bad there too stayed a few hours called it a day with no luck. Sunday we got out around 11 on the same smaller trib. I landed one right away. Met up with my buddys down streem and fished with them and did really well. Hook ups all day i landed 4 fish with one nice BROWN! it was about 20 in. me and all my buddys had a good time.

There are a few fish but they are widely scattered. If you were lucky enough to find a pod of fish that weren't being molested by 4 or 5 people they could be persuaded to hit small nymphs fished real close to the bottom. As for me it was 4 hook ups but only 1 landed. I'll get them next time.

The water conditions were muddy, visibility nothing. It was windy and you were unhooking/tangling a leaf with EVERY cast! Sometimes your fly landed on a leaf..if you were lucky and missed one, you were sure to get one as you pulled it out of the water. There were 5 of us and we only hooked 2 fish, landed 0 (total) on bright yellow eggs. Tried everything we had. It was terrible.

Water color and level looked excellent to me. Only saw two nice size fish on the move upstream all afternoon and very few fishermen. I threw every fly variety, presentation, color and weight I had to offer and nothing to show for it. I don't typically fish Walnut but I likely the stream itself, just couldn't seem to find the fish tonight.

Went to the nut and found good numbers and they were hungry. First cast my father caught a pair of reading glasses ... if they are yours, e-mail me. My father mentioned that he hoped they were not attatched to someone as he made his second cast. Man next to him said if we were in NJ perhaps this was possible. Good time and good company from all.

Water was fairly clear. I landed 15 and seen quite a few caught. Fishing the faster water was the ticket for me with hairs ear nymph and prince nymphs working good. I hear the NY streams are loaded as well. blown out today on westside. was headed back to eastside but figured they would also be high.

Leaves and wind made it tough at times. Water level allowed various presentations, drifting skein, single eggs, flies, etc. Walked a few miles of a larger trib and fish were everywhere. Every pocket held 5-30 fish. Spent most of day with one Flatfish lure tied on and presenting it to individual and groups of fish, literally every fish in 2 mile stretch and then back again. This produced high numbers of fish whether swinging in front of fish or holding in current and utilizing the length of the rod to do so. Drifting all day catches fish, but this technique leaves no doubt the fish hit. To put up high numbers of fish where every strike is violent and have fish miss and come back repeatedly is an adrenaline filled day of fishing. Spawn worked for awhile then switched to mini-foos, black with a little sparkle tail on them. I wonder though why we have to have to a report that reads like a 8 years olds feeble attempt at "rap." Isn't this forum for fishing reports and not shucking and jiving nonsense? People like that ruin a great sport!

Team TR laid the smack down on some prime PA steelies while on da “Nut. RVD and L-Boogie got into the grill of several chromers and powered-up their way to some shatpank fishing. Black wooly buggers, and sucker spawn were the shiznit. The H2o level was higher than a 1930’s swimsuit, but not as low as the neckline on Pam Anderson’s Baywatch suit. We were bro-ing from 6:30 Am until 11AM and hooked into more fresh fish than joints smoked at a Phish concert. We met a nice honkey dillo Rich from the Rock today. That dude was hep to the fishing scene and knew his flies better than the Dipterists. We were laying anchor above the Manchester and below the falls. Great day getting jiggy with some supreme steelhead. Team Treble Rebel will be back sooner than bad breath in the morning. Woooooooo!! Translation: Fished Walnut from 6AM to 11AM above the chutes and below the falls. A good number of fresh fish have moved in along with many, many leaves. Water level was a little low, and slightly off colored. We had about 20 hookups each and landed only 4 each. No big fish, but they were all hard fighters. Crowd was heavy for a Friday, but not too unruly. Met a nice guy, Rich, from Slippery Rock who had some good stories and even laughed at our “jokes”. Had a great time and hope to be back soon.
